ARIYA Virtual Display
Construction / Installation / Interactive / Transparent Display / Kinekt
Overview
To show the benefits of the new Nissan ARIYA, this transparent display was built as an AR-overlay, over the actual car, provided the participant stands in the right place.
Needs & Challenges
The first challenge began with understanding what kind of Display could actually be used and combined in what way. Partnering with LG, and testing the transparency of their displays, while checking how content would show both content and the real world behind the displays.
Next, the question on how to show both movie as well as interactive content was a main question. Howe many people would interact with it? Would they play on the same interface or would they have their own portion of the screen.
My own design and prototype envisioned the display to become a co-operative concept, that would bring people to interact together, as they end up playing the same games.
Unfortunately, the concept that 4 players could play separately was preferred, and development took off in another direction. Below, the movie section of the installation is shown during development in the warehouse, after the basic arrangement of the hardware has been figured out, with the care behind it in a secrecy box.
